Reflection

The first step in creating my portfolio was to gather all the information I wanted to include. Since the fall of 2022, I have been working hard to tailor my resume to the standards presented by Management Leadership for Tomorrow, in their Career Prep program. In order to match their criteria I created a very streamlined, yet professional resume. I wanted to include my most relevant information while also maintaining a one-page length. Considering that my resume is more simple, I decided to write a cover letter that expressed more of my interest in consulting and business, rather than my more creative interests.

I also gathered various work samples. I included assignments we have completed this year such as the open letter and feature article, but I also wanted to use this opportunity to show my different areas of interest. As a result, I included more professional writing samples like an academic essay and infographic, but also a script and personal essay.

Since I made my resume and cover letter in a simpler style, I wanted my website design to reflect my personality. I chose a more engaging and bright color palette to reflect the positive and welcoming attitude I try to present, especially at work. However, it is important to me that I still reflect a clean, organized, and appealing demeanor so I tried to limit my colors to mainly blue and pink tones, with pops of other colors. When formatting my website, I knew I wanted it to be well-organized and easily accessible. I decided to make separate pages for my resume, CV, and portfolio so visitors can easily find what they are looking for. I also included my contact information so people can reach me with questions.
